Start with the instructor and student
The core record is the training relationship—not a fleet, dispatch desk, or school operation that an independent CFI does not run.
About DualGiven
I’m Robbie Rikard, an active independent CFI/CFII in Los Angeles. DualGiven started because the actual teaching was only part of the job. The rest lived in calendars, logbooks, notes, payment apps, PDFs, endorsement templates, and whatever system I happened to remember to update that day.

Where it started
After a flight, I might update my own logbook, create the student’s training record, record what we worked on, update progress, figure out billing, send a receipt, and make a note about what should happen next. The information was mostly the same. The systems were not.
I wanted one place where recording the lesson could carry more of that work with it—and where I could open a student before the next flight and immediately understand where we left off.
Before moving into full-time flight instruction, I spent about 15 years working in technology. DualGiven brings those two parts of my background together: the workflow problems I encounter as an instructor and the belief that software should remove duplicate work rather than create more of it.
Why DualGiven is different
Flight schools need fleet scheduling, dispatch, maintenance and front-office tools. Independent instructors have a different problem: keeping students, training records, schedules, endorsements, files and payments organized without becoming their own administrative department.
The core record is the training relationship—not a fleet, dispatch desk, or school operation that an independent CFI does not run.
If I already documented the lesson, that same information should help update logbooks, student progress, billing, and the record I need later.
Students should have a clear schedule, training history, progress, endorsements, documents, quizzes, and receipts even when their instructor does not have a front office.
Still an active instructor
I’m not building DualGiven from a hypothetical CFI workflow. I still teach independently in Los Angeles through Fly With Robbie, where I schedule students, issue endorsements, keep records, and collect payment. When something takes too many taps, is hard to use on an iPad mini, or makes me enter information twice, that is a product problem I want DualGiven to solve.
